Reservations.com review, a look at something fresh

Reservations.com reviews as a refreshingly new idea in a somewhat crowded field.  Go to any OTA (online travel agency) and you will notice right away that their site is very crowded.  The goal of most of them seems to be to get as much  information in front of your eyes in the first few seconds as possible.Reservations.com

Reservations.com is bright, open, and doesn’t look like another clone of a multitude of others.  But the thing that really caught my eye, first, is their focus on customer service.

If you’ve dealt with other OTAs as many of us have, you’ve probably got some stories to tell about bad or difficult service.  I do!  The biggest issue I’ve had with more than one online travel agency is in getting service.  (It often went downhill from there!)

Service with personality

It’s not unusual to be put on hold for an interminable length of time.  I remember trying to get help on one of the big ones while in OKC and scrambling to find a charger to keep my phone from dying before I got help!  How crazy is that?

Reservations.com has live chat, available with a simple click on any page.  They are the only OTA I have come across that has this option.  But does it work?

I tried their live chat, just to see.  In fact, I asked up front if I was talking to a real person or IA (artificial intelligence).  I was pleasantly surprised when an agent replied that yes, she was  a real person.  She then politely proceeded to  ask me how she could help. 

I told her I was just checking to make sure she was real and asked her if she liked working there.  She immediately replied that she did  like it, and that she would love to assist me with my reservation.  

They also offer 24/7 phone service, as well as concierge service.  If you need help with anything in the process or have any questions, it’s super easy to talk to a real human being.  That’s very refreshing!  I wish I could get paid for all the time I’ve spent trying to get help with another OTA.

Their dedicated support portal is fantastic.  In fact, I’ve never seen anything quite like it. Have you?  Your comments are welcome!  It’s easy to see that a lot of thought has gone into giving one-click answers to most of the questions anyone might need an answer to.   If the answer is not there, it’s easy to submit a request via email or right off the main site via phone or live chat.

Runaway Suitcase

Reservations.com also has an awesome blog, called Runaway Suitcase.  How could you not love that name?  The blog offers firsthand insights and tips about fabulous destinations around the world.  There travel blog, by itself, is a great reason to bookmark their site and come back often.

All online travel agencies make reservations for services related to travel, including hotel accommodation and car rentals.  That’s also what Reservations.com does, and very well, too.  But where they really shine is in their commitment to caring, personal and pleasantly human service.  Like the live chat agent who answered my questions so quickly.
